“During a visit to a mental hospital before I left Hong Kong, a patient politely asked me how a country that prided itself on being the oldest democracy in the world had come to be handing over his city to another country with a very different system of government, without either consulting the citizens or giving them the prospect of democracy to safeguard their future. Strange, said one of my aides, that the man with the sanest question in Hong Kong is in a mental hospital.”Chris Patten Financial Times

Goslings and Mother Goose

Goslings and Mother Goose

Directed by: Carroll Ballard

Written by:
Bill Lishman, Robert Rodat, and Vince McKewin

Starring:

Jeff Daniels as Father

Anna Paquin as Daughter

Wikipedia: Fly away home

The Story Fly Away Home
After the accidental death of her beloved mother, fourteen year-old Amy (Anna Paquin) is bundled off to live with her estranged father (Jeff Daniels) and his new girlfriend . While struggling to adjust to her new life, Anna stumbles upon a nest of orphaned goose eggs and, after nurturing them until they hatch -- becomes the Mother Goose.

The geese thrive under Amy's loving care until an officious wildlife officer informs her father that it is illegal to raise wild geese without clipping their wings, Amy and her father can not bear to ground the flock. Instead, they must teach the flock to fly using a hang-gliders and modest flying skills. The father and daughter decide to attempt to lead this flock of orphaned Canada Geese south by air to find their new home for the winter.

The film was loosely based on the real-life experiences of Bill Lishman, a Canadian inventor. During the late 1980s and early 1990s, Lishman openly wondered if geese and similar birds could be taught new migration patterns by following ultralight aircraft onto which they had been imprinted.

In 1993, after several years of logistical and bureaucratic setbacks, Lishman successfully led a flock of Canada Geese on a winter migration from Ontario, Canada to Northern Virginia, U.S.A. Of the sixteen birds that participated in the migration, thirteen returned to Ontario the following year - entirely on their own.

The project was called Operation Migration and was reported in Lishman's book, Father Goose: One Man, a Gaggle of Geese, and Their Real Life Incredible Journey South.

I saw the movie too, it was good.

The highest number of Canadian geese I saw at any one time was at Cap Tourmente in the Province of Quebec
http://www.qc.ec.gc.ca/faune/faune/html/nwa_ct.html

There were 16,000 of them there !!!

A:According to legends, some "Chinese" did tried it back in the 50's in Toronto's china town.

Conclusion: It taste really really really bad because of all the crap they eat.

THEY EAT ANYTHING.

I may do a more detailed research this summer hahaha

It taste really really really bad because of all the crap they eat.!
