I thought Republicans are the ones who still hold the cold-war era mentality. Haricot, you may be talking about just a few Democrats. What if the Republicans and the Democrats actually take turn to play the good cop/bad cop game with China?

If I remember correctly, Republicans (especially during the Bush Administration) are the ones who sell "sensitive" technology to the Chinese. Democrats have been raising their opposition for a long time, so Pres. Obama's tougher action on China isn't new.

I watch FOX News just to see what "those people" are thinking about. I used to listen to Rush Limbaugh too and there were times when I thought he was right on. People's point of view can be changed unless they are extremists.

The media can certainly use more voices. Personally I welcome Chinese CNN. I don't think anyone will/should solely rely on one source for information these days. Would xenophobic Americans be excited about CITV? I think it would be a very tough sell.

I tried this blog business last year (that's how I discover all these Hong Kong blogs) but I shut it down after a couple of months. It left very bad taste in my mouth and I swear I wouldn't do it again. Funny though, since I am a very talkative person in real life, my friends always assume I have a blog hidden somewhere. One of them keeps saying "you must have a Chinese blog so that you can talk to your Chinese friends!"

I would have loved to give you my blog link but unfortunately I don't have the love for one right now.

At this difficult times you are still affordable to go on a 9 day-vacation. I remember I said before，"the Chinese Americans are the last group of americans to go under."

They still retain some good DNA from their ancestors though they lived among the general americans and dreamt in english than in chinese.

As far as I recall, Iris Chang Shun-Ru committed suicide in 2004. I have not read her book "The Chinese in America" . Rumours said she was actually killed by CIA agents or being terrorized by CIA so much that she rather died than living.

I am actually quite curious what HKers think of Chinese people overseas?

America isn't perfect but it is home to me after all. Just like HK to many of you, HK isn't perfect but it's home. As far as assimilation, I was told by some "real" Americans that immigrants can't really assimilate. We integrate. I digress. I know some second/third generation American born Asians who are still quite confused about their cultural and racial identities. Yes, there is loss. I believe you gain some and you lose some. As long as I'm happy, I don't care where I live.

I was on vacation when Pres. Obama visited China. I had no internet access, no newspaper for 9 days. All I got was very limited reporting from CNN. Glad to read your perspective on China-U.S trade relationship, Space.

The question I would like to ask is "should wages in America come down or should wages in China go up?"

In order to strike a balance, is it about time that Chinese workers make more money so that they can afford a higher standard of living? Let me reassure you that U.S companies would love to pay us slave wages too if we weren't protected by law. Instead of saying that Americans are making too much, we should ask why the Chinese government allows U.S companies to take advantage of her citizens. I am sure that average Chinese workers would love to make more if politicians in China are on their side for a change.

I have another question. Do you think wages in Hong Kong should go down some more just to stay competitive with mainland China?
